The Revelation of Jesus Christ to John
The Revelation, a fantastic work, was originally directed to seven mixed Jewish and Gentile congregations in the Roman sub-province of Asia nearly two thousand years ago - yet this book has been used in modern times to justify revolutions, genocide, ethnic cleansing and effective withdrawal of the U.S. government from international co-operative agencies and activities. How are we to find meaning in this book? What did it mean to congregations two thousand years ago? Assuming that its purpose is exactly what its name implies (the revealing of something to those ancient congregations and thus also to us) this thirteen-week study patiently opens up the book’s visions and riddles to see quite clearly what the book meant then and what it may still be heard to say today.
